Marisa is a qualified architect of 23 years and the owner of SHEK Architects.
Before setting up SHEK Architects, Marisa practiced in many large London-based architectural companies where she was responsible for managing staff, leading design teams, the delivery of complex building projects, as well as building client relations.
Over the years, Marisa’s expertise as a specialist healthcare architect and an Expert Witness has amassed recognition within the industries.
At SHEK Architects, her aim is to bring together a team of like-minded professional to offer a brand that not only focusses on client care but also invests in staff wellbeing.
While day-to-day Marisa may spend her time running her practice, it is the face-to-face interactions with her clients and building users that gets her up in the morning.
Julia Hockin

Architect | Expert Witness
Having qualified as an architect for 35 years, Julia brings an impressive portfolio of experience to SHEK Architects. She is highly skilled in the housing needs of those with cognitive, physical and visual impairments.
Julia has a particular interest in designing for people who have acquire brain injuries, where often the disability is invisible to the eye and requires a more considered and tailored approach.
Julia is currently accepting instructions on writing CPR compliant reports on accommodation needs in litigation claims. She has written 400+ compliant reports to date.
When she is not at her drawing board, Julia is a doting horse owner and avid rider, spending most of her time in the great outdoors.

Tom Strike

Tom is an innovative and detail-orientated architect with 27 years of experience delivering residential, healthcare and later-living provisions. He is skilled in managing all project phases, from concept design to construction administration, with expertise in BIM technologies. Tom also accepts instructions on producing CPR compliant reports on accommodation needs in litigation claims. He has expertise in assessing accessibility standards and evaluating accommodation requirements for people with physical disabilities, and he has a particular interest in inclusive design provisions for multigenerational living.
Tom is a father of 3 children and when he is not the designated taxi service, he is a keen hockey player.
Tak Liu
BA (Hons) ACIAT
Senior Architectural Technologist
Tak has worked in the construction industry since 1999 and brings with him extensive knowledge and experience in building design and construction. He would describe his speciality and area of interest to be around healthcare and wellbeing. At SHEK Architects he is instrumental in the delivery of a range of projects from residential adaptations to complex hospital developments. He is a great team player and enjoys the collaborative process involved in creating buildings and technical problem solving.
If he is not offering his free time to voluntary work in the community, he is a Notaphily collector and his passion is cooking and exploring culinary adventures.
